Restorative Wellness Workshop — Townsville, Queensland
Smart Precinct NQ
Restorative Wellness Playground welcomed community members in Townsville, Queensland, Australia, for an immersive Restorative Wellness Workshop hosted at Smart Precinct NQ.
Traveling from New York City to North Queensland, Professor Kelvin Cooper led participants through an experience centered on movement, reflection, and restorative dialogue.
The workshop brought together entrepreneurs, educators, students, and community members from across the Townsville region to explore restorative wellness practices that support personal wellbeing and community connection.
Participants engaged in mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, restorative movement, and intercultural dance traditions including Afro-Caribbean movement, jazz, and hip-hop. Creative group activities encouraged participants to explore personal narratives, empathy, and collaboration.
Attendees reflected on how grounding it felt to pause from the constant pace of everyday life and simply connect with others in a shared space. Participants from different cultures and life experiences quickly developed a sense of openness and community.
The workshop highlighted the importance of creating spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and respected.
This event was presented with support from Smart Precinct NQ, Townsville City Council, and community partners who helped make the experience accessible to the public.
